Women's Soccer Hosts High Point in Exhibition Friday

SoCo Coaches' Preseason Poll and Preseason All-Conference

CULLOWHEE, N.C. -Western Carolina women's soccer will host High Point, in an exhibition match, at 7 p.m. Friday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Western Carolina was picked to finish eighth by the SoCon coaches' released Thursday by the Southern Conference. The Catamounts finished ninth, just missing the eight-team Southern Conference women's soccer tournament in 2012.

Southern Conference First Team All-Conference and All-Freshmen selection Markie-Lynn Studnickydid not make the 11-member preseason all-conference list, however, she has received other preseason awards leading up to the 2013 campaign. Studnicky was named one of the Top-20 Southern Conference women's soccer players for 2013 byTopDrawerSoccer.com and First Team Preseason All-Southern Conference by College Sports Madness.

Catamount Women's Soccer Blanks High Point 1-0
Western Carolina soccer (3-4-1) blanked visiting High Point (2-7) 1-0 Sunday at the Catamount Soccer Complex.

Western Carolina had a record of 7-10-2 in 2012 and was 4-4-1 at home. Studnicky led the Catamounts in every major statistical category, as a freshman, with nine goals, two assists, 20 points and two game-winning goals.

The Catamounts host Lipscomb, to open the 2013 season, at 7 p.m. August 23.
