CULLOWHEE, N.C. -Western Carolina women's soccer opened preseason practice for the 2012 season with a Friday morning practice on the soccer practice field.
The team will focus on techniques in the morning sessions and use the evening practice to work on more game-type situations and scrimmages.
Third-year Head Coach Chad Miller informed the team it is a clean slate and everyone will be fighting for a position. Western Carolina has a balanced team, including five seniors. Two of the five are redshirt seniors in forward Samantha Hodge and goalkeeper Katie Jacobs, along with Laura Greb, Lindsay Carter and Katie Salmons.
Western Carolina will have a short turnaround before its first test of the preseason, hosting Clemson at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, at the Catamount Soccer Complex.
