CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's soccer continues its spring drills, which is scheduled to conclude the week of April 18. The Catamounts also recently hosted an alumni event for past men's and women's soccer players.
On the weekend of March 18, Head Women's Soccer Chad Miller continued the Catamount soccer spring tradition of welcoming back alumni from both the men's and women's teams. Along with hosting a seven vs. seven tournament, Catamount soccer also hosted special events, including a golf tournament, for soccer alumni. On Saturday the former men's and women's teams played each other and the current squad at the Catamount Soccer Complex.
Western Carolina athletics discontinued men's soccer in the mid 1980s but the alumni of the men's teams continue to come back for alumni events, supporting the women's program that began in 1999.
The current squad is busy this spring working on drills and fundamentals in preparation for the 2011 season. The team will welcome 18 newcomers in August.
