Rachel Hils begins her first season as the first Assistant Coach (interim)for Western Carolina after spending this past year as second assistant coach.
She is a 2007 graduate of East Carolina University where she was a member of the Pirate's soccer team. She was named the team's captain her senior year and was a Third Team All-Conference selection as well as named to the NSCAA Academic Team. She will receive her master's degree in sports manangement in may 2009.
Hils received a bachelor's of science degree with a concentration in business management at East Carolina University. Head Coach of the Carolina Mountain Soccer Club since July 2008. Works with the Olympic Development Program, an assistant coach since Decemeber 2008. Hils also is the Summer Camp Coach and Youth Camp Cordinator here at Western Carolina since July 2007.
Head Coach Tammy DeCesare had this to say about Rachel Hils: "Rachel has shown tremendous growth as a coach during her time here and has made herself incredibly valuable to our program. She's overtaken the majority of Coach Miller's responsibilities (after his acceptance of HC job at Catawba), and her work is nothing short of impressive every day. This spring season is much easier on me and more productive for the program with her stepping into the 1st assistant role."
