Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina University's head women's golf coach Steve Lott announced today the signing of Brandy Andersen of Orlando, Florida to a National Letter of Intent.

Andersen was the 2001 Player of the Year on the Central Florida Junior Tour. Over the past two years she has won six tournaments and placed in the top ten in 19 other events. Andersen just ended a stellar high school career where she won the District Tourney in 2000 and finished second in the region and in the top 20 in the State Championships in 2001. Her scoring average in high school was 76. The senior at William R. Boone High is a member of the FCA, Class council and National Honor Society. She also works as an Athletic Trainer for varsity sports at her school.

"This is a very big day for WCU golf," said Coach Lott. "Brandy Andersen is a very talented golfer who will make us a contender in the Southern Conference. She is very strong academically and a joy to be around. I look forward to having Brandy and her family as a part of our team." Brandy is the daughter of John and Dianne Andersen of Orlando.
