The 2001-2002 Lady Catamount Golf Team will field its strongest team ever. The Lady Cat linksters will consist of three seniors, three sophomores and three freshmen.

Senior Mary Faulk, who started in every tournament and twice led the team in scoring, will look to continue her success. Seniors Samantha Briatico and Brook Stillman (last years team captain) will bring experience and depth to a very young squad.

Sophomore Becca Twiner, the team's Player of the Year last season, will look to improve on her record breaking inaugural campaign. In 2000-2001, Twiner set a record for season scoring average (81.21) and tied the record for career rounds in the seventies (eight).

Sophomore Kristin Jarman will bring experience as a consistent member of the starting rotation. Looking to break into the starting lineup will be sophomore Meredith Beck, who redshirted last year.

The incoming freshmen class is the best ever recruited to play at WCU. Goldsboro, N.C., native and four-time Mideastern 4-A all-conference selection Ginni Jo Sutton will look to continue the consistent play she displayed in high school. Line Cordes of Bronderslev, Denmark, will bring the international experience she gained as a two-time member of the Danish National Team. Cordes finished in the top 10 the last two years in the Danish National Championships. Freshman Johanna Lundberg of Tumba, Sweden is coming off an excellent summer on the Bank Boken and Telia Tours in Sweden, where she finished in the top 20 in every event she participated in.

The Lady Cats will begin their fall campaign on September 7 at the Unlimited Potential in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and will finish up in October hosting one of college golf's best tournaments The Great Smokies at Waynesville Country Club.
