CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina men's and women's golf hosted its inaugural WCU Golf Reunion on July 21 at Balsam Mountain Preserve.

A total of 30 participated in the event, with the majority former Western Carolina golfers. Returning golf alumni playing in the even dated back to the 1969 team all the way to sophomore men's golfer Collin Witiak.

"Our goal for this event was to give former players, parents and supporters a chance to reconnect with each other and the golf programs," said Head Men's Golf Coach Carter Cheves. "Head Women's Golf Coach [Mallory] Hetzel and I are grateful to those who participated in this year's event. The turnout was encouraging and everyone had a great time on the golf course. We are confident this event will continue to grow and attract more former players, parents and supporters to Cullowhee."

"The turnout was great, as was the venue,"Hetzel said. "Coach Cheves and I are looking forward to future alumni events. We want all former players to visit Cullowhee as much as possible."

The format was two man teams, counting one best ball on each hole.

Team Gross Winners: Ricky Stout (2010) and Tripp Morrow (2007)

Team Net Winners: Tiffany Schisler (2011), Brook Stillman (2002) and Caleb Marsh

Closest to the Pin winners: Rich Price and Harry Sload
