Cullowhee, N.C. - Brook Stillman has been named to the 2001-2002 National Golf Coaches Association Division I All-Scholar Team marking the second time a Western Carolina woman golfer has received the honor.

The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 (3.40 for Junior and Seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Stillman, a native of Homer, N.Y., walked on to the women's golf team as a freshman and was a four-year letter-winner for the Lady Catamounts. She was the first ever elected team captain and the recipient of the Carrie Schafer and Coach's Awards. She was a founding member of the WCU Student Athlete Advisory Council and carried a cumulative GPA of 3.64 in upper elementary education.

Shelley Glenister was the first WCU female golfer named to the All-Scholar Team when she received the honor in 2001 for holding a 3.72 in Marketing.

"Brook is what college athletics is all about," said head coach Steve Lott. "She walked on our team four years ago never having played organized golf. She became part of our starting lineup her senior year for a team that shattered every team record and is now an All-Scholar athlete."
