Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina University women's golf coach Steve Lott announced today the signing of Lucinda Davies of Peterborough, England to a National Letter of Intent.

Davies is a 2003 graduate of the Kings School in Peterborough and one of the top young players in England. She is currently in her third year on the England Regional Training Squad. In the past two years, Davies has won several local and regional championships and in 2002, she qualified for the Izzo Championship final in Wales.

In 2003 Davies qualified and played in the English Girls Championship and the British Girls Championship. She has spent the last year working on her game at the David Leadbetter Academy in Watford, England. Davies is an all-around athlete, playing for her school's netball, hockey, tennis and rounders first teams.

"Today is a big day for Catamount golf," Lott said. "Lucinda is a big time recruit whose golfing talents will solidify our program for the next four years. Her work ethic and outgoing personality will elevate our team on and off the course."

Lucinda plans to major in Sports Management at WCU and aims to play on tour after graduating from Western. She is the daughter of Hugh and Jane Davies of Peterborough.
