Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina University will play host to the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship for the first time ever this Sunday through Tuesday, April 20-22. The tournament, which will feature eight conference schools, including WCU, will be held at the Catamounts' home course at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C.
"I have high expectations for our team," said WCU head coach Steve Lott. "Since we know this course very well, I don't see any reason why we can't win (the championship)."
All five Cats competing in the championship are currently averaging in the 70's with Line Cordes leading the way, averaging 76.78 strokes per 18 holes. The Catamounts are currently in second place in the league behind Furman with a 307.7 stroke average and have won two of nine tournaments this year.
The SoCon tournament tees off at 8:56 am all three days and is open to the public.
