Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina women's golfer Line Cordes has been named the TIAA-CREF Southern Conference Student Athlete of the Week. Cordes led the Catamounts to a tie for tenth place at the LSU-Cleveland Golf Classic on April 6. She tied for 15th individually after shooting a 227 (75-75-77). It was the seventh time this season that Cordes finished in the top 20 overall.

Cordes, a sophomore from Bronderslev, Denmark, holds a 3.81 GPA overall. She is averaging 76.87 strokes per round this season to lead the Catamounts and was ranked sixth overall in the conference in stoke average as of April 1.

Also receiving strong consideration were Western Carolina baseball player Alan Beck and Wofford baseball player Keith Sturkie.

The Lady Catamounts are now in preparation for the SoCon Championship being held at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C., April 20-22.
