Cullowhee, N.C. - After inclement weather in the Piedmont of North Carolina caused the start of the High Point Spring Invitational at the Meadowlands Golf Course in Wallburg, N.C., to be delayed nearly six hours, time constraints and more rain/thunderstorms forced the suspension of round one with each team lacking six or seven holes from completing the opening round.

Plans are for the teams to complete the first round on Tuesday morning at 8:00 am, then continue through with the second round of the 36-hole tournament with the same pairings.

The HPU Spring Invitational is a combined event with both men and women's teams in attendance. In addition to the host Panthers and Catamounts, the women's field includes SoCon rivals Appalachian State, Elon, The Citadel, and Wofford, as well as Radford, Hampton, Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State, Methodist College, and Old Dominion. Western Carolina is looking to add to its record-setting season, already with a school-record eight top five finishes including three team victories.
