BURLINGTON, NC -- Line Cordes golfed her way to a tie for third and the Lady Catamounts stand in first place after opening-round action of the fifth annual Elon Intercollegiate Tournament Saturday afternoon at Indian Valley Golf Course.

Cordes carded a 40-37--77 on the par-72 course to share the number three position with Elon's Laura Orlen (40-37--77). Radford's Laura Terebey (36-35--71) and Tusculum's Rachel McFarland (37-39--76) lead the 76-golfer field entering the second (and final) round, which will be played Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.

Western Carolina leads the field with 322, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (324), Radford (326), and Elon (328) after the first 18 holes in the 14-team, 36-hole event. Tusculum (335), Wofford (337), Gardner-Webb (344), Catawba (344), Georgetown (347), Maryland-Baltimore County (354), Anderson (356), Hampton (365), Monmouth (367) and Long Island (367) all trail the Catamounts entering Sunday's play.
