Kiawah Island, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's golf team ended their fall tournament season Tuesday as they finished 10th at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 941. The team combined to shoot a 310 in the second round, which finished this morning, and a 320 in the final round Tuesday afternoon.
The Catamounts were led by freshman Bianca Melone, who fired rounds of 75-80-77 to give her a three-round total of 232 to tie for 24th. Brandy Andersen finished in a tie for 28th with a 233 (76-74-83). Becca Twiner tied for 40th with a three-round total of 235 (79-76-80), followed by Ashley Hovda with a 241 (81-81-80) to tie for 55th and Erika Danford who tallied a 279 (86-96-97) to finish 88th.
Notre Dame took home the tournament title with a combined score of 892. The Irish led wire to wire in the tournament, taking the lead with an opening round 301 yesterday, shooting 300 in the second round and firing a blistering 291 in the final round to claim the tournament by 16 shots over Texas Tech. East Carolina's Adrienne Millican took home the individual medallist honors by shooting 217 for the tournament, two shots ahead of Campbell's Sofia Gorelik.
The event wraps up the fall tournament season for the Lady Catamounts. Western returns to action March 11-12 at the NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla.
