Waynesville, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's golf team hosted the 2000 Great Smokies Women's Golf Intercollegiate at the Waynesville Country Club.
WCU finished 14th as a team of 24 schools. Leading the way for the Lady Cats was sophomore Shelley Glenister who tied for 37th. She shot 78 and 79 for a total of 157. Freshman Rebecca Twiner tied for 55th and shot 80 both days for a 160 total. Suzanne Shipley shot 79 and 87 for a total of 166, tying at 80th.
Tennessee Tech's Cherry Bevis led the tournament with 70 the first day and 73 the second. East Carolina's Ashley Leonard, who shot 68 and 76, followed her.
Tennessee Tech won the tournament with a team score of 595. Murray State finished closely behind with a team score of 597.
