Greenville, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's golf team is in first place after round one of the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina University. The Catamounts carded a 295 in the first day, which ties for the third-lowest team score in WCU history.
Freshman Bianca Melone is tied for first with ECU's Adrienne Millican after each shot a 70 in round one on the par 72 course at the Bradford Creek Golf Course. The round marks a career low for the rookie from Orlando, Fla. Sophomore Brandy Andersen is tied with two others for fifth place with a 72 in round one.
Rounding out the Catamount squad is senior Becca Twiner with a 76 to tie for 23rd, sophomore Ashley Hovda with a 77 to tie for 31st and sophomore Jennifer Palmer with an 80 to tie for 55th.
