Lexington, Ky. - The Western Carolina women's golf team concluded play at the University of Kentucky-Wildcat Invitational Sunday, finishing in 10th place overall. The Catamounts improved their score by four strokes in the final round with a 320 to finish with 973 for the tournament.
Sophomore Brandy Andersen ended the third round with an 84 to finish with a three-round score of 236. Freshman Bianca Melone improved by four strokes in the final day with a 78 to tie for 34th with a 242. Senior Becca Twiner carded an 76 for the third round, improving by nine strokes to give her a total 246 for the tournament. Sophomore Ashley Hovda shot an 82 for the day to give her a three-day total of 249. Sophomore Jennifer Palmer carded an 86 for the day, bringing her three-round score to 264.
Vanderbilt ended the tournament as the champion with a 926 over three rounds. Louisville's Meghan Little took home medalist honors in a play-off with Vanderbilt's Chris Brady, finishing wiht a 227.
The Lady Cats return to action Oct. 13-14 at the Bradford Creek - Lady Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
