Lexington, Ky. - The Western Carolina women's golf team is now in 12th place after two rounds of the University of Kentucky-Wildcat Invitational. The Catamounts improved their score by five strokes with a 324 Saturday after shooting a 329 in day one.
Sophomore Brandy Andersen made the move to fifth (tied) with a 76 for the round, giving her a two-day total of 152. Freshman Bianca Melone is tied for 38th with a 164 (82-82), while sophomore Ashley Hovda moved up to 52nd (tied) by shooting an 81 in day two for a combined total of 167. Senior Becca Twiner carded an 85 for the second consecutive day for a 170 and sophomore Jennifer Palmer, improved her game by eight strokes, shooting an 85 for the day for a two-round total of 178.
Vanderbilt moved into a tie with Mississippi State for the lead in the tournament, each with a 623. Louisville's Meghan Little slid into a tie for first individually with Kentucky's Marissa Muir, each with a 149 in the tournament.
The teams return to the links Sunday for the final round of the Wildcat Fall Invitational.
