Pulaski, Va. - The Western Carolina women's golf team placed sixth in the Lady Highlander Invitational braking several records in the process.
The team was led by sophomore Becca Twiner firing rounds of 73 and 76 (149). The 73 equaled the best round ever shot by a Lady Catamount. Her 149 total broke the record previously held by Sara Parris at 153.
Freshmen Johanna Lundberg and Line Cordes both fired 157 for the two rounds. This puts them in fourth place in the WCU record books.
The team compiled a 36-hole score of 626. This broke the previous school record by 14 shots. The two individual round scores (312-314) rank third and fourth all-time.
The tournament was won by the College of Charleston with a two-round total of 586. WCU finished sixth but were only seven shots out of second place.
The Lady Cats will be back in action September 24-25 at the Belmont Lady Bruins Invitational.
