Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Western Carolina women's golf team placed themselves in seventh among 35 schools, shooting a 315 (+27) in day one of the Unlimited Potential/Baytree Classic golf tournament in Myrtle Beach Friday. Sophomore Johanna Lundberg led the Lady Cats, shooting a 77 to tie for 19th out of 183 golfers. The three day tournament features the most schools out of any tournament in the country, followed by Western's own Wachovia - Great Smokies Intercollegiate tournament in October.

Sophomore Line Cordes and freshman Brandy Andersen sit in a tie for 30th with 78 shots a piece. Freshman Ashley Hovda shot a 82 to tie for 76th while junior Becca Twiner shot a 84 to tie for 106th for the day.

East Carolina leads the pack, shooting a 301 as a team. ECU's Jessica Krasny sits in first individually after making par at 72.

The Lady Cats return to action Saturday and conclude the tournament on Sunday.
