HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Western Carolina women's golf is sitting in eighth place, shooting a team score of 326, after the first round of the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships at Moss Creek Golf Club.
The Catamounts are two strokes, 324, behind College of Charleston and Appalachian State who are tied for sixth. Furman University leads after the first day with a score of 303.
Individually, for Western Carolina Josefine Sundh is tied for ninth place shooting a 77. Desiree Karlsson is tied for 21st with an 81, Rachel Nelson is sitting tied at 25th with an 82, Blaire Minter is 41st with an 81 and Ashley Shinn is tied for 45th with a 89.
Furman University's Jackie Hilea leads after the firs day entering the clubhouse even shooting a 72. Danielle Mills of Elon is on stroke behind with a 73. Sundh for the Catamounts is just five strokes out of the lead.
Western Carolina returns to action on Monday for day two of the tournament.
