Glen Allen, Va. - Western Carolina's women's golf team ended the three-round Lady Spider Invitational in a tie with Longwood University for sixth place with a 944. The Catamounts fired a 327 in the final round.

Sophomore Brandy Andersen finished on top for the Cats with a three-day total of 228 (78-72-78) to tie for seventh overall. Senior Becca Twiner also finished among the tournament's leaders with a 234 (76-76-82) to tie for 19th. Sophomore Ashley Hovda tied for 27th with a 238 (77-78-83), freshman Bianca Melone tied for 38th with a 245 (79-82-84) and sophomore Erika Danford tied for 58th with a 255 (86-81-88). Playing as an individual, senior Meredith Beck finished tied for 68th after shooting 265 for the tournament (82-93-90).

UNC Wilmington finished as the tournament champion after carding a 302 in the final round for a three-day total of 903. UNCW's Becky Berzonski took home the individual title after a consistent performance, shooting a 73 in each of the three rounds for a total of 219.

The Catamounts now being preparations for the Southern Conference Championship, which will take place April 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
