TEGA CAY, SC- Western Carolina's women's golf team is in seventh place and junior Kandy Carland is tied for fourth place after the first round of action at the Shamrock Invitational at Tega Cay Golf Club.
Carland shot a 77 in the first round with a 44 on the first nine holes and a 36 in the last nine. Malin Fryk is tied for 11th shooting an 81, Bianca Melone is tied for 16th with an 83 and Tiffany Schisler is tied for 82nd with a 103. As a team the Catamounts shot a 344 in the first round.
The team is five strokes behind the sixth place team Gardner-Webb which shot a 339. Elon leads the field shooting 323.
