WCU Women's Golf Advances to Third after Two Rounds at Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

Augusta, Ga. - Western Carolina trimmed two strokes off its opening round 306 to shoot 304 in the second round as the Catamounts moved from fifth to third after 36 holes at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, hosted by Augusta State at the Forest Hills Golf Club. Augusta State carded the low-round of the day with a 297 on the opening 18 holes, but slipped to second behind Coastal Carolina which enters Monday's final round with a seven-stroke lead after posting 600 through two rounds. Augusta State (607) is followed by Western Carolina in third at 614, with UNC Greensboro (615) and UNC Wilmington (618) rounding out the top five. The teams played until dark on Sunday to complete the opening two rounds. The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Freshman Malin Jansson carded rounds of 72 and 78 for a 36-hole score of 150 to lead the Catamounts in a tie for seventh-place overall. Junior Josefine Sundh is one stroke in arrears in a tie for ninth at 151 entering the final round, with sophomore Blaire Minter just outside the top 10, tied for 12th with rounds of 77 and 76 for a 153 entering Tuesday. Jansson scored par on 25 of the 36 holes on Sunday, second overall in the tournament, while ranking tied for second in par 4 scoring. Minter ranked tied for second in par 3 scoring, shooting even on the shortest holes. Rounding out WCU's scorers are Desiree Karlsson and Rachel Nelson, each carding 164 on Sunday to stand tied for 56th out of the 75 golfer field. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
