Kiawah Island Classic Final Results
Kiawah Island, S.C. - Desiree Karlsson fired a one-under 71 on Tuesday in the final round of the spring season-opening Kiawah Island Classic at the Oak Point and Cougar Point Golf Courses. Western Carolina finished 11th overall in the 33 team field after carding a three-day total of 912. Junior Josefine Sundh slipped into a tie for 30th in the final standings after a final round 82, while Malin Jansson placed tied for 57th. Karlsson finished with 38 pars over the three-round tournament while Sundh finished with 10 birdies, tied for sixth overall. Blaire Minter finished tied for 69th and Rachel Nelson was tied for 105th to round out WCU's scorers. Miami (Fla.) posted a final round score of 289 to finish at 892 to edge Minnesota by a stroke, 893, in the final team standings. First round leader Augusta State (895) finished third, three strokes in arrears, while Oral Roberts and East Carolina finished tied for fourth at 897. East Tennessee State's Nina Muehl and Crystal Reeves of Oral Roberts finished tied for the individual crown, each shooting a three-under 213 over the 54-hole event. Western Carolina returns to action March 6-8 at the Administaff / Lady Jaguar Invitational hosted by Augusta State at the Forrest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
