Still searching for their first victory of the 2005-06 season, head coach Kellie Harper and the Lady Catamounts return to the hardwood tonight, on the road to battle the High Point Panthers from the Big South. Tip-off from the Millis Center is set for 7:00 pm tonight.
Tonight marks Western's first action since a two-point defeat at home to Radford prior to final exams. Western will look to make it two-in-a-row over the Panthers, roaring back from a 16-point deficit early in the second half with a 34-6 overall run to win by 10, 95-85, in Cullowhee last season. Sophomore Monique Dawson led a pair of returning Lady Cats in double figures last season with a career-best 17 points, while her classmate Jessika Johnson added 15 in the win.
Entering tonight's game, Western is led by freshman guard Lauren Powell, averaging just over 11 points per game. Preseasn All-Southern Conference selection, sophomore Chevon Keith, is nearly averaging a double-double, scoring nearly nine and a half points and boarding just under 10 rebounds per game.
Monday's game will be carried LIVE by the Catamount Sports Network, with Daniel Hooker and Steven Crumpler on the call.
