Middleton Comments on Game vs. No. 14 Florida State (AUDIO)

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball hosts No. 14 Florida State at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ramsey Center.

NOTES:

SISTER VS. SISTER AGAIN: For the second time this season, sisters will face off against each other ... Redshirt sophomore Diamond Hunnicutt will face off against her sister Christian Hunnicutt, a senior guard for Florida State ... Diamond was unable to play against her sister in the 2009-10 season because she was sidelined with an injury ... Earlier this season, senior Catamount guard Kendra Carroll played against her sister Laura in Western Carolina's exhibition game against Asbury.

ANOTHER TOP-25: For the second time this season Western Carolina will face a team ranked in the Top-25 ... The visit by No. 14 Florida State comes just two weeks after the Catamounts faced then No. 14 North Carolina at Chapel Hill ... The last time WCU faced to Top-25 teams in the regular season was the 2008-09 season when the Catamounts played North Carolina and Tennessee, the same season the team won the 2009 Southern Conference Tournament title.

MENENDEZ LIKES TO LEAD: For the third time in five games, Western Carolina was led in scoring by junior guard Kaila'Shea Menendez. The Raleigh, N.C. native scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half, against Samford, and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

THE HOLLIFIELD LINE: Junior forward Caitlin Hollifield notched her fourth double figure scoring performance of the young season, with 13, and also had a season high two blocks and ripped down a team-leading eight rebounds against Samford.


 

 

SECOND ACC TEAM IN THREE GAMES: Western Carolina's match-up with No. 14 Florida State is the second ACC team the Catamounts will meet in the last three games ... On November 21, WCU played ACC member North Carolina in Chapel Hill, falling to the Tar Heels 93-36.

FIRST FIVE OPPONENTS RECORDS: The overall record of Western Carolina's first five opponents is 21-11 ... Three of the teams have winning records: Asheville (3-2), North Carolina (7-0) and Samfrod (4-2).
