Catamount Basketball Coaches' Luncheons Return Thurs., Dec. 6

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina athletics today announced the first date for the Catamount Basketball Head Coaches' Luncheons that will be held locally at O'Malley's Bar & Grill in Sylva during the 2012-13 men's and women's basketball season. WCU will tip-off the popular event on Thursday, Dec. 6 in the only pre-holiday gathering.

O'Malley's Bar & Grill in Sylva will again host the lunch-time social that will include video highlights, chalk talk and question/answer sessions with both head coaches. Patrons are invited to order off a special O'Malley's menu, or to enjoy many of the local establishment's long-time favorites during the basketball-themed gathering.

Both WCU head coaches Larry Hunter and Karen Middleton will be on hand to discuss their respective basketball teams. The luncheons are scheduled to begin at 11:45 am beginning with a brief meet-and-greet with the official program beginning just after Noon and concluding around 1:00 pm.

A complete listing of the luncheon events will be released after the first of the year. It is expected that the luncheons will alternate every other week through the final week of the regular season just before the teams converge on Asheville, N.C., for the Southern Conference Basketball Championships.

Western Carolina's men's basketball team is on the road for game six of a seven-game road swing on Saturday evening, visiting unbeaten Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky., with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm. The Catamount women continue their home stand by hosting the Spartans of UNCG in their 2012-13 Southern Conference opener. Tip-off in the Ramsey Center is scheduled for 5:00 pm.

Both games will be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network. The women's game airs on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 in Cullowhee and online at at 4:45 pm, while the men's game has a 7:00 pm air time on 540 AM WRGC, 920 AM WPTL and WWCU is scheduled to join the men's broadcast in progress following the conclusion of the women's game.
