CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball (2-2) hosts USC Upstate (2-5) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the second game of its five-game home stand.
The Catamounts enjoyed a six-day break after playing four games in a 10-day span. Western Carolina will look to vault back over .500 after starting the season 1-0 with the win over UNC Asheville.
The Catamounts are led by redshirt senior Diamond Hunnicutt who is averaging 9.8 points per game. Junior Rena Wakama, who has started the last two games, is averaging 8.8 points per game and has scored in double figures in both of her starts.
USC Upstate is coming off a 100-34 loss at Kentucky. The Spartans have failed to score over 40 points in their last two games, having scored 37 in their 48-37 loss against George Washington. Both of USC Upstate's wins have come at home. Tee'Ara Copney leads the Spartans averaging 8.9 points per game.
NOTES:
For the first time this season, Western Carolina had three players score in double figures as Ali Lane and Rena Wakama each had 12 points and Makensey Campbell added 10 in the 67-55 win over North Carolina Central on November 20.
Western Carolina's 67 points against North Carolina Central is the first time this season the Catamounts have eclipsed 60 points in a game ... Prior to the contest against NC Central, WCU had scored under 45 points in its games against Campbell and Coastal Carolina.
