Women's Basketball Signs Four

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's basketball team announced the signing of four recruits to National Letters of Intent.

Shaketia Barnes, a 5-8 guard, plays for Coach Debra Pegram at Beddingfield High School in Wilson, N.C. She averaged 22 points and nine rebounds last season as a junior while leading her team to a 25-5 record. Barnes was named all-conference her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.

Jennifer Gardner, a 5-11 forward, plays for Coach Mike Lee at Norcross High School in Norcross, Ga. Gardner averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds as a junior and was the leading rebounder in Gwinnett County last season. She was named to the Atlanta Journal Prep Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club all-region team, and the past two seasons she was named all-county.

Ki-Ki Glass, a 5-5 point guard from Atlanta, Ga., plays for Coach Kathy Washington at North Atlanta High School. Glass is a two-time Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American. She led her team to the 3A State Championship Title last season and was named first team all-state as a junior. She averaged 15 points and 12 assists per game. Glass was also named Metro Atlanta Girls' Prep Player-of-the-Year her junior year.

Teyawna Hardy, a 5-11 guard from Ellenboro, N.C., plays for Coach Julie Powell at East Rutherford High School. Hardy averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds as a junior. She was named all-conference for the past two seasons. Hardy participated in the invitation only Hawaii Classic last summer. She was also selected Ms. East Rutherford High School by her classmates earlier this fall.
