CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball will host one of two consolation brackets of the Preseason WNIT beginning Friday November 21. The Lady Catamounts will welcome Lafayette, UC Riverside and Liberty in the two-day doubleheader event. Western Carolina hosts Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The event tips off at 5 p.m. Friday in the first game of the consolation round with Liberty facing off against UC Riverside. Action resumes on Saturday at 7 p.m. with Western Carolina facing a to-be determined opponent and the second game scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Western Carolina fell into the consolation bracket of the WNIT preseason tournament after a 90-56 loss to No. 4 North Carolina. The Lady Catamount's first round opponent Lafayette lost 85-47 at Middle Tennessee. Liberty was nipped 59-57 by VCU and UC Riverside lost to Oklahoma 88-57.
