This is it. The season has begun! I cannot explain how excited and determined my teammates and I are this year. Our non-conference games are going to be challenging but we are off to a great start.

Friday, November 9, we played The University of Detroit at home. We started out slow, in the first half, but once we got those "first game jitters" out of the way, everything fell in place. Scoring 57 points in the second half, we grabbed our first win of the season - 85 to 65.

Up next was Clemson University. As we rode the bus Sunday morning, on the way to the game, I reminisced on my days as a Clemson Tiger basketball camper. My high school team went there every year for team camp. Naturally, my high school teammates and I looked up to them. Those players were apart of an ACC program. They were "big time" in our eyes.

I only got to go up until the summer before my 10th grade year. I had two knee surgeries back to back that kept me out the next two summers.

Never did I imagine playing on that court again, but it's funny how things work out. I'm so proud of how our team walked into that gym. We knew we had the talent and the will to win, but we knew that it wasn't going to be handed to us by any means.

We played hard, created some great shots and made some amazing defensive plays. Winning against Clemson was important to everyone on the team but it had its own personal meaning for me.

It helped me see that my dreams and aspirations to be on an extremely talented basketball team, when I was a Clemson basketball camper, have come true. No I'm not on the Clemson basketball team but I am on a team that won't quit until the buzzer sounds.

This team has excellent chemistry on and off the court. This team has a love for basketball and the ability to do big things. WCU fans stayed tuned! You don't want to miss out on the Lady Catamount basketball season!
