CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball hosts Brevard College at 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Ramsey Center, in its lone exhibition game of the year.
The contest is free to the public and will be broadcast on Power 90.5 as well as on catamountsports.com. The game between the Catamounts and the Tornados will also be video streamed via Catamount All-Access free of charge. Fans are also encouraged to check out the newly re-tooled Gametracker which can now be accessed through mobile devices.
Western Carolina welcomes two newcomers to a team that lost three players from last season. Players to watch include sophomore guard Lindsay Simpson, a native of nearby Franklin, N.C., who was a 2013 Southern Conference All-Freshmen selection. She led the team averaging 7.8 points per game with 35 three pointers.
Senior Shauna Terry, a forward from Henderson, N.C., led the team in rebounding in 2012-13 averaging 5.9 rebounds per game. She is also chasing the Western Carolina women's basketball blocks record. The Henderson, N.C. native has 106 blocks in her career and needs 25 to knock off leader Brooke Johnson who has the record with 130.
The Catamounts open the regular season Nov. 8 at future Southern Conference member Mercer. The game with the Bears is part of a three-game road swing, to open the 2013-14 season, as WCU plays at Georgia Tech Nov. 10 and at Campbell Nov. 16.
