Cullowhee, N.C. - Beginning with a line that stretched in front of the main entrance of the Ramsey Center doors, down the steps and out to the road, the Catamount Madness event held on Wednesday night was a success.
Both the Western Carolina men's and women's basketball teams were on display during the event that lasted just over an hour, spurring the excitement of "Beat App" week and previewing the excitement that's to come this winter with the basketball programs.
The evening included a pep rally with the Catamount Cheerleaders and WCU Dance Team, as well as interactive fun with both basketball teams -- including members of the teams dancing with the WCU Dance Team to mix of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," and the oddly popular, "Gangnam Style" by PSY.
The Catamount men's and women's basketball teams are just over two weeks away from opening their respective 2012-13 campaigns, both at the Kimmel Arena against UNC Asheville. WCU's men's squad squares off against the Bulldogs at 7 pm on Friday, Nov. 9, with the women playing the following afternoon with a 4:30 pm tip-off at UNCA. Both games will be televised locally on WMYA-TV, My40.
