Get to Know: Q&A With Seniors Peterson and Bonner

Western Carolina men's and women's basketball tips off in 22 days. To prepare for the 2017-18 season, we begin a series of questions and answers with selected men's and women's basketball players. First up are seniors Devin Peterson, a 6-1 guard from Milton, Ga., and Sherae Bonner, a 6-2 forward from Whitesburg, Ga.

What motivates you to work hard?
Peterson: Seeing others prosper drives me to be the best I am.
Bonner: My core values that I received from my family.

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Peterson: "New Guy" or "DP"
Bonner: Rae

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Peterson: Vanilla Bean
Bonner: Strawberry

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Peterson: Sit on the beach and relax.
Bonner: Be a model.

Favorite off-season activity?
Peterson: There is no offseason.
Bonner: Doing absolutely nothing.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
Peterson: Earning and maintain a full scholarship for four years.
Bonner: Going to college and playing basketball.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Peterson: NFL player.
Bonner: WNBA player or model.



What's your favorite zoo animal?
Peterson: Lion
Bonner: Giraffe

Favorite thing about playing a home game at Western Carolina?
Peterson: Passing out 3-point t-shirts
Bonner: Seeing my family.

Your goals for the 2017-18 season?
Peterson: Score 1,000 points, average six assists and lead the team to a positive record.
Bonner: Win
