NO BREAK FOR LADY CATS - PRACTICE STARTS: Western Carolina women's basketball officially began team practice on Sunday. The Lady Catamounts did a light shoot around on Sunday morning before coming back in the afternoon for their first official team practice. With the university closed for fall break, Western Carolina women's basketball was able to squeeze in two practices on Monday. Head Coach Kellie Harper and her club held practice at 10 a.m. in the Ramsey Center and then came back around 4 p.m. for their second practice of the day.

DRILLS, DRILLS, DRILLS: The Lady Cats worked on drills and some game situations in the morning practice. Western Carolina worked a lot under the basket and there were some nice shots from guard Monique Dawson and some strong under the basket play by junior Brooke Johnson.

PAUSE FOR READING: After their morning practice on Monday, the Lady Catamounts spent a majority of their afternoon reading to children at Johnathon Valley Elementary School in Waynesville. The team also went into the gym and played various games with the elementary school age children.

CATAMOUNT MADNES: Catamount Madness is schedule to take place on Wednesday, November 7th, from 6-8:30 pm, in the Ramsey Center. Games and contests for students and fans alike is planned for the event. Some prizes include MP3 players, grocery cards, huge cash prizes, and more. The Catamount cheerleaders will also offer education on new chants and cheers. Some highlights include a costume contest among our coaches, dance & cheer team performances, streetball scrimmages from both the men's and women's basketball teams, and a slam-dunk contest. There will be cool giveaways and other prizes as well.

2007-08 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL THEME UNVEILED: The theme for the 2007-08 Western Carolina women's basketball media guide is "Gearing Up," as the club gears up for one of the most anticipated seasons in Lady Catamount history.

EXHIBITION GAME WITH CARSON-NEWMAN: Western Carolina women's basketball is just 19 days away from its first game of the season - an exhibition with Carson-Newman College. The Catamounts will face the Eagles at 7 p.m. November 1 in the Ramsey Center. Lady Catamount junior Brooke Johnson spent two seasons at Carson-Newman before transferring to Western Carolina.
