CULLOWHEE, N.C. -Western Carolina women's basketball opened the 2013-14 season with its first official team practice of the season Monday.
The Catamounts return 11 from the 2012-13 squad and will benefit from the return of Brianne Mack, who sat out last season due to an injury. Western Carolina is also welcoming two newcomers: freshman forward Alexis Carter and junior college transfer Justin Taylor.
Western Carolina returns 80 percent of its offense. The Catamounts were led in 2012-13 by freshman guard, and Franklin, N.C. native, Lindsay Simpsonwho averaged 7.4 points per game. Simpson was a 2013 Southern Conference All-Freshman selection.
The Catamounts opened practice at 4 p.m. on the Ramsey Center main floor. Western Carolina tips off the season at future Southern Conference member Mercer at 5 p.m. November 8. The team plays its first three games on the road as the Catamounts travel to Georgia Tech on Nov. 10 and at Campbell on Nov. 16.
Men's and women's basketball season tickets, as well as single game tickets, will go on sale later this week. The following is pricing for season tickets:
