Freshman Women's Basketball Simpson Leads West in All-Star Game

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Western Carolina University women's basketball freshman Lindsay Simpson poured in eight points to help the West defeat the East, 40-31, Monday night in the East-West All-Star Basketball game at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Franklin, N.C. native was the only Western North Carolina boys or girls player in the 2012 East-West All-Star Basketball game. Simpson dished out a team-high three assists and made 2-0f-3 three pointers in the West victory.

Simpson is a two-time Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year who finished her career at Franklin High School with the second most all-time points (2,693) in Western North Carolina history. She was also named the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference's top player after averaging a WNC-best 27.6 points a game to go along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals a night.
