CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina Head Women's Basketball Coach Karen Middleton announced the addition of Ta'Kierra "KG" Gibbs (Central Georgia Technical College/Putnam County High School) for the 2014-15 season.

"We are very excited to have KG join our Catamount family," Middleton said. "She is a true leader, has a great personality and competes in all she does."

Gibbs joins Antaijah "ACE" Easter (Bandys High School, Catawba, N.C.), JonTay Mitchem (Ridgeview High School, Columbia, S.C.), Sherae Bonner (Central High School, Carrollton, Ga.), Kyria Hough (Lancaster High School, Lancaster, S.C.) and Emily Hatfield (Hendersonville High School, Hendersonville, Tenn.).

Gibb, a guard from Eatonton, Ga., spent two seasons at Central Georgia Technical College before transferring to Western Carolina. She was recently named a NJCAA Division I All-American. In Gibbs' sophomore campaign she averaged 17.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 4.2 steals.

"KG is a scoring guard that can handle and create off the dribble," Middleton added. "She can also stretch the defense and knock down the three-pointer. KG is a worker who joins a special class of signees for our program. We are very excited about the future. BIG things are ahead in Cullowhee."
