Cullowhee, NC - The 2002 Verizon Academic All-America District III Women's Basketball University Division team has been selected by voting members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America. Senior center Laura Echols received First Team honors, while sophomore guard Yoneko Allen made Second Team.

This honor is deja vu for Echols who made the team last year as well. She also leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds-per-game. By making First Team, Laura is now eligible for the Academic All-America Team, which has not yet been voted on.

Allen has a had a tremendous year as well on and off the court. She boasts a 3.98 GPA in sport management, and averages more minutes in the game than any of her teammates. Allen is third on the team in scoring with 9.0 ppg, and leads the team in 3-pointers with 1.79 per-game. This is her first time receiving this honor.
