Cullowhee, N.C. - Tuesday, Feb. 17, the WCU Athletics Department's will host its Third Annual Education Day at the Ramsey Center. Prior to the game, the Athletics Department will welcome area elementary school children for a program using athletics to teach such things as geography, history, health and math. Afterwards, the group will convene in the Ramsey Center to cheer on the Catamounts in a special Noon game. Game time was originally scheduled for 7:00 pm, but was moved up to 12:00 pm due to the special event.
An energized crowd of over 500 area fifth and sixth graders were on hand to cheer on the Catamounts in last year's Education Day game versus Appalachian State. As a result of that 73-65 win, WCU gained its 20th win of the season and head coach Beth Dunkenberger achieved her 50th win at the helm of the women's basketball program at Western.
