Cullowhee, N.C. - With the college hoops season rapidly heading towards conference tournament time, Western Carolina fans have just a few opportunities to catch the Catamounts in action in the Ramsey Center this season - but Paws the Catamount wants to do his part to help!

In preparation for next Monday (Feb. 19) night's men's basketball Senior Night, presented by Bojangles', Paws will be on-location this Friday (Feb. 16) at Bojangles' in Sylva at Noon for lunch. Not only will fans have the opportunity to dine with the Cat on Friday, but he will have a chance for patrons to win FREE tickets as the Catamounts host North Division-leading - and arch-rival - Appalachian State on the 19th at 7:00 pm in the Ramsey Center. You won't want to miss this exciting SoCon game, with the popular Bojangles' Wing-Eating Contest at halftime.

Also on Monday, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive a coupon redeemable for a FREE drink with the purchase at the Bojangles' of Sylva.

Catamount Hoops to Welcome Home Alumni

Western's next home games are this Saturday, Feb. 17, as WCU hosts its final basketball doubleheader of the season as the Lady Catamounts host Furman at 4:00 pm, with the men entertaining the SoCon-leading Davidson Wildcats at 7:00 pm. Both the women's and men's programs will welcome home their former players on Alumni Day this Saturday.

Saturday's women's game has also be designated "Band Day," with area bands invited to come perform with the WCU Cathouse Band (call the Athletic Department at 800-34-GOWCU to register). At half time, the Boss Drummers, a drum line from Winston-Salem, is scheduled to perform.

During the second game, WCU will recognize one of its most successful teams all-time as members of the 1958-59 squad will return to Cullowhee. The '58-59 Cats of Western Carolina College posted a 24-4 overall record and a 13-2 mark in the North State Conference, capturing the league championship as one of the tallest teams in the Carolina's at the time.

The '58-59 roster included all-conference selections Swede Frauson, Randall Shields and Harris Pryor, with Frauson and Pryor also earning All-NAIA District 26 honors.

During intermission of the men's game, the Fairview Flyers Unicycle Team from Asheville, making a Ramsey Center appearance for a third-consecutive year, is slated to provide halftime entertainment.
