Feemster and Robinson Named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District
Feb. 4, 2010 CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Kristen Feemster and Jake Robinson of the Western Carolina men's and women's basketball teams have been named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District III. As first team selections, in district III, Feemster and Robinson are both eligible for the national ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team. The women's Academic All-American Team will be released on February 23 and the men announced February 24. Feemster becomes the second consecutive women's basketball player to earn this honor, as former Catamount Brooke Johnson earned a spot on the all-district first team in 2009. Robinson becomes the first Catamount men's basketball player to be up for Academic All-American since Myron Lewis garnered second team honors in 1990. Feemster graduated in December, 2009 with a degree in Psychology boasting a 3.94 GPA. She is currently enrolled in graduate school while finishing her athletic eligibility. She was a candidate for the Lowe's Senior Class Award and the Psi Chi National Honor Society. Other accolades include for Feemster inlcudes Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll (2006-09), member of the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Academic Scholar First Team (2007-08) and named the Western Carolina Student Athlete of the year in 2007. She also just gained entrance into the Catamount women's basketball 500 Rebound club and currently has 509. Robinson carries a 3.40 GPA in Finance was named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week on January 6, 2010. He broke the school record for three-pointers in a career and currently has 251 and closing in on top-10 in the Soutehrn Conference career list. A 2009 Southern Conference Coleman Lew Leadership Award winner, he is also a two-time Southern Conference Winter All-Academic selection.
