Middleton Previews weekend slate of games (AUDIO)

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball (6-11, 4-4 Southern Conference) begins a two-game road swing at 6 p.m. Saturday at Chattanooga (8-11, 5-5 SoCon). The Catamounts play at Samford on Monday.

NOTES:

BACK ON THE WINNING TRACK: After the loss at Georgia Southern ended Western Carolina's two-game winning streak, WCU got back on the winning track defeating Furman, 75-66, on Jan. 16.

RECORD AT CHATTANOOGA: Western Carolina is 5-21 against Chattanooga in The McKenzie Arena ... All five wins have come in odd years; 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2009 ... Three of the five wins at Chattanooga have come in an eight year span ... The wins at Chattanooga in 2007 and 2009 spurned conference titles ... In 2007 the win at Chattanooga spurred a regular season title ... The Catamounts last win, at UTC, in 2009 was part of a 10-game winning streak that culminated in the team winning the 2009 Southern Conference Tournament title.

LAST MEETING AT CHATTANOOGA: In the last meeting between Western Carolina and Chattanooga, the Catamounts won was a 51-49 in overtime on senior day ... Emily Clarke led the club with 12 points and also had two steals. Caitlin Hollifield had eight points, pulled down 10 rebounds and added a block.

THE MONTH OF JANUARY: Western Carolina is 3-2, so far, in the month of January ... The Catamounts have done a reversal of sorts from the start of the season ... After failing to win a home game to start the season, WCU has won three straight at home ... The Catamounts are 0-1 on the road with the loss at Georgia Southern.
