Basketball Spotlight: Alex Abraham (Video)
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball (6-10, 1-6 Southern Conference) hosts Elon (8-9, 4-4 SoCon) at noon Wednesday in the Ramsey Center as part of Education Day. Area school children have been invited to experience a collegiate game and learn more about the game of basketball.
FACING ELON: Western Carolina and Elon face each other for the 34th time in the two school's history on Wednesday ... Elon won the last meeting in Cullowhee, on January 29, 2011, 76-49 ... Prior to that, WCU had won the last two meetings including a 74-64 win at Elon on December 18, 2010 ... Western Carolina has lost just two games to Elon in the last 11 meetings with both losses coming at home. THE
45 AGAINST DAVIDSON: Western Carolina's 45 points scored in the loss to Davidson on January 13 was the lowest point total by the Catamounts, in a Southern Confernece game, since scoring 46 points against Davidson and Appalachian State on Decmeber 3 and 5h.
Alex Abraham BACK IN STARTING LINE-UP: Sophomore forward Alex Abrahamgot back in the starting line-up for the first time since starting against Appalachian State on December 5, 2011.
SECOND STRAIGHT NOON GAME: Western Carolina will be playing its second straight noon game, after playing at noon at Davidson on January 13 ... The Catamounts' noon contest against Elon is part of Education Day, in which area school children are invited to the game.
TERRY'S MOST POINTS SINCE LAST...: Sophomore forward Shauna Terry'sseven points against Davidson was the most points scored in the game since scoring eight points in the previous meeting with Davidson on December 3, 2011. FOUR DAY BREAK: Western Carolina is coming off a four-day break, after playing at Davidson on Friday.
SECOND WEDNESDAY GAME: Western Carolina is playing its second game on a Wednesday this season ... The Catamounts are 1-0 on Wednesday after defeating UNC Asheville 63-53 on "hump day."
