Game Notes vs. Chattanooga
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball (8-7, 4-3 SoCon) will look to bounce back after its home loss to Samford on Saturday hosting Southern Conference rival Chattanooga (10-6, 6-1 SoCon) tonight. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. in the Ramsey Center.
It will be the first time senior center Brooke Johnson has faced the Mocs since her season-ending injury against Chattanooga on December 20, 2007.
Chattanooga holds a 55-9 advantage over Western Carolina and has won the last four meetings. In the two clubs last contest against each other, the Mocs defeated the Lady Catamounts 71-59 in the Southern Conference Tournament Finals.
Senior guard Lauren Powell needs two points to move into 13th place in the Lady Catamount career scoring record books. Powell currently has 1,176 points.
Johnson is also chasing records as she sits at 98 blocks in her career and needs just five to move into second place in the Western Carolina record books. Should Johnson reach 100 blocks she would become just the third player in school history to go over 100 blocks in her career.
Western Carolina is led by sophomore Emily Clarke and Johnson in scoring. Clarke is averaging 10.9 points per game and Johnson is averaging 10.4 points per game.
Chattanooga is paced by Shanara Hollinquest who is averaging 16.5 points per game.
