Scott Moore joined the Western Carolina Lady Catamount coaching staff during preseason workouts last season as a graduate manager. This season, Moore will serve as the Director of Basketball Operations. Currently a full-time visiting instructor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Western, Moore earned his Masters in Physical Education over the summer of 2006.
A 1996 graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, Ill., Moore was a four-year letterwinner for the Cougars in football, while also earning a varsity letter in baseball. During his final season at Concordia (1995-96), he volunteered as a student assistant for the women's basketball team before parlaying that into a full-time position as women's basketball assistant coach a year later.
In 1998, Moore made the transition to men's basketball as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County for two years, while also being an assistant football coach at Baraboo High School. In the fall of 2000, he returned to the high school hard court and classroom at Montello High School. He worked as a high school English teacher and coached the girl's basketball team at Montello High for four years.
Outside of coaching, Moore worked for two separate newspapers in Baraboo, Wisc., while coaching, serving as the Sports Editor of the now defunct Baraboo Sun from 1997 through 1998, then working for the Baraboo News Republic for a year in 1999.
Originally from Necedah, Wisc., Moore was married to his wife, Deb, in 1996 and they have two sons, Dylan who is five and Tyler, who is one.
