Cullowhee, N.C. - With the success of the men and women's Catamount golf teams this semester, both programs are receiving national recognition from the media.

According to the latest Golfstat Cup rankings, senior Ashley Hovda, who held the nation's top scoring average midway through the season, currently stands 62nd after the conclusion of all of Western's fall events. Sophomore Matt Cook ranks 122nd on the same list for the men.

Both golf teams are finished with fall competitions and will gear back up on the same date in the spring. The men visit Campbell University's Hargrove Davis Intercollegiate in Buies Creek, N.C., while the women head for Mobile, Ala., and the Univ. of South Alabama's Lady Jaguar Invitational.
