Men's Golf In 14th Place After Two Rounds

HIXSON, TENN. --- The Western Carolina men's golf team completed the first day of the Chattanooga Intercollegiate at the Valleybrook Golf Course in 14th place. The Cats shot a 36-hole total of 631. UNC Wilmington and Winthrop are tied for the overall team lead at 17 over-par, 585.

Sophomore Bryan Sangid leads the Cats after two rounds of play with a 10 over-par 152 (74-78). He is tied with four other players for 31st position. Freshman Clay Kilgore is five strokes behind Sangid in 54th position with a 15 over-par, 157 (80-77).

Winthrop's Matt Johnson leads the field at with a five under-par 137 (70-67). Jose Campra of Jacksonville State was the lone other competitor to achieve par., 142 (74-68).

WCU sophomore Greg Lewis (81-80) and freshman Jason Huguet (78-83) are tied for 65th place with 19 over-par 161.

Catamount junior Lee Cline shot two rounds of over 80 and finished the day in 79th place with a total of 169 (85-84).

The tournament continues tomorrow at the Valleybrook Golf Course with the third and final round.
