Alpharetta, Ga. - Western Carolina junior Matt Cook shot one-over 73 for the second-consecutive day to advance three places in the overall standings, concluding the second round tied for 20th with a score of 146 at the NCAA Men's Golf East Regional at the Golf Club of Georgia. Cook is scheduled to open his final round at approximately 8:53 am on Saturday morning on the 446-yard, par 4 No. 10.

After carding bogeys on two of the first four holes, including the par 5 first and the par 4 fourth, to stand at two over, Cook birdied two par 4's in No. five and No. eight to shoot even on the front nine for the second-time in the tournament. With a birdie on number 10, the Murphy, N.C., native dropped to one-under on the day where he stood before bogeys on 12, 13 and 15 pushed him to two-over for the day.

However, Cook managed to record his first par 5 birdie of the week on the par 5, 564-yard 18th to again move to one-over, 73, on the day.

Top-ranked Georgia shot even-par, 288, as a team on Friday to move into first-place with a two-round, two-under 574. Southeastern Conference foes, Florida (575) and Auburn (577) enter the final round in second and third, respectively, with first-round leader, Georgia Tech in fourth four strokes back with Duke rounding out the top five, seven strokes off the lead with a two-day score of 581.

Southern Conference champion, Chattanooga, slipped into a tie for 16th with an 18-over, 306, on Friday.

Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale continues to lead the field individually with a two-day score of 137 (67-70), with Georgia's Brendon Todd two strokes in arrears at 139 (70-69). Florida's Billy Horschel and Chris Kirk of UGa., are each five strokes back in a two-way tie for third place.

The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA National Championship in Williamsburg, Va., with the top two individuals not on one of the top 10 teams also moving on. Cook, who is the highest standing of the six golfers which received individual bids to the regional, currently ranks tied with four golfers with the third-best score entering Saturday's final round, just three strokes in arrears of Bryan Rozier (Jacksonville State, 143) and one back of Robert Rohanna (Penn State, 145).

Final round tee-times begin at 7:00 am on Saturday morning. Live scoring from GolfStat can be found by logging onto www.GolfStat.com.
